GOOD MOTHERS LIE

Watch a clip from a performance of Good Mothers Lie at the Indy Reads Books as part of DivaFest 2013, sponsored by Indy Fringe and Storytelling Arts of Indiana.

Good Mothers Lie is the story of a mother who inadvertently tells traumatizing stories from her own life in an effort to comfort her young, anxious son.  Two hilarious travel stories are woven into a larger story of a mother (Sally) attempting to assure her son that he and his dog will be safe during times of travel.  A kernel of parental insight comes when Sally finally recalls her own father’s methods of offering her comfort as a child.

Review:  “It was a privilege to hear this story.  I thoroughly enjoyed the humor, but also valued the nuggets of complete seriousness in the story.”  —  Jane Kenyon
